01 — The brief
What we walked into
A 120-pole solar street lighting deployment along a municipal corridor, delivered without trenching, cabling or a grid connection — and therefore without a metered energy cost or the copper runs that had made previous lighting a repeated theft target.
The council wanted the main corridor lit and had twice seen conventional lighting defeated by the same two problems: the cost of extending and metering supply, and the theft of copper cabling almost as fast as it was laid. Any solution that involved a cable run was going to fail the same way a third time.
02 — The approach
What we engineered
We ran a photometric design first, setting pole spacing and luminaire output against the lux level the corridor actually required — the step most often skipped, and the reason many solar lighting schemes look adequate on paper and dim in reality. Each pole is a self-contained plant: monocrystalline panel, LED luminaire, LFP battery and an intelligent controller with dusk-to-dawn and motion sensing. Dimming during low-traffic hours stretches autonomy to more than three nights, so a run of overcast weather does not darken the street. Foundations were engineered for local wind loading.

03 — The result
What it delivers now
The corridor is lit, the council carries no metered energy cost for it, and there is no copper in the ground to steal. Deployment took a fraction of the time a cabled scheme would have needed, because the critical path was pole foundations rather than trenching and utility approvals. Evening trade along the corridor extended noticeably — the outcome the council actually wanted, as distinct from the lighting they asked for.
