01 — The brief
What we walked into
An online UPS protecting analysers and cold storage, integrated with a 60 kWp array so the same battery that guarantees continuity also cuts the daily bill. No sample loss has been recorded through subsequent outages.
A diagnostic laboratory where a momentary interruption does not inconvenience anyone — it destroys a batch of samples and, occasionally, an analyser. The existing generator started reliably but took seconds to do it, and those seconds were precisely the problem. Voltage quality was a second, quieter issue: sags and harmonics were shortening equipment life in ways nobody had connected to the supply.
02 — The approach
What we engineered
We specified online double-conversion UPS rather than line-interactive, because sensitive analysers benefit from continuously regenerated power, not merely a fast switch. Capacity was sized to the protected load with genuine runtime to bridge the generator start and then some, with N+1 redundancy on the critical bus. Then we did the thing that turns an insurance cost into an asset: integrated a 60 kWp array so the same battery infrastructure shaves the daily bill instead of sitting idle waiting for a failure that might come once a month.

03 — The result
What it delivers now
No sample loss has been recorded through any outage since commissioning, and the transfer is invisible to the equipment. The power conditioning has quietly removed the sags and harmonics that were degrading the analysers — a benefit the client did not ask for and now values as much as the backup. Because the storage does double duty with the solar, the system earns its keep every day it is not needed for an outage, rather than only on the days it is.
